Accuracy is of the utmost importance in any translation, but for legal translations mistakes can have even greater consequences. Errors in contracts may be costly mistakes. For example, a legal translator should know the difference between terminating, dissolving or annulling an agreement. In addition, a basic understanding of the law of different countries is a prerequisite because the legal systems of different countries can be as diverse as their cultures, and you simply must get the legal terminology right. With my subject-matter expertise, I am able translate notarial deeds and complex agreements, and I have been translating Terms and Conditions and privacy policies of all shapes and sizes for years.
